Frontier Trophy

Wild turkey dominated the forests of North America during the Colonial Period and for some time there after. At one time it was suggested by Benjamin Franklin that it be the official national emblem,but was rejected for the eagle instead. Featured also in this painting a John Rupp style long rifle made in the mid 1700's, and the engraved map horn suspended by wampum belt strap indicating the owner may have been native or of close ties to them. the hunting pouch was worn buy all frontiers men to carry exta provisions such as lead balls,flints for their gun topatch knives and screw drivers to care for their weapon.
